Best Claude Connectors for Building Apps (October 2026)

A Claude connector is a link that lets Claude read your data in another app and take actions there. For building an app, you want one per stage: plan, design, build and host, code, payments, and docs. If you are starting from an idea, three are enough: Notion, Floot, and Stripe. If you already have code and a developer, add GitHub, a host like Vercel, and Context7.
The short version
Claude connectors run on MCP (Model Context Protocol), an open standard for plugging tools into AI.
One directory serves claude.ai, Claude Desktop, mobile, Claude Code, and Cowork.
Directory connectors work on every Claude plan, including Free, which also gets one custom connector.
On Floot, one connector builds and hosts the whole app: frontend, backend, database, logins, and a live URL.
On other stacks, hosting and the database are separate connectors, each with its own account.
The rest of this guide covers the best connector for each stage, which ones you need, and what each tool makes you do.
Claude connectors, in one picture
Think of a job site. Claude is the foreman. It owns no tools, so it calls the crew.
Notion holds the plans. Figma has the drawings. GitHub files every version of the blueprint. Stripe runs the register. Floot pours the foundation and puts up the walls.
Only one of them actually builds the house.
The split exists because each tool lives in its own company's app, and a connector is Claude's phone line to it.
What a connector actually does
A connector gives Claude up to four abilities in another app.
It reads. Claude opens your Notion spec or GitHub repo and works from it ("list the screens my 'Habit tracker' page needs").
It writes. Claude creates a Linear issue or edits a Notion page.
It acts. Claude triggers a Vercel deploy or makes a Stripe payment link ("a $9 monthly plan called Pro").
It shows. Since January 26, 2026, some connectors are MCP Apps that open an interactive window in the chat. Figma, Canva, Asana, and Slack launched first.
Notice the pattern. Every one of those happens inside someone else's app, and the result lives there too.
The best Claude connectors for each stage
The Claude directory lists hundreds of connectors. An app needs five or six, in this order.
Plan: Notion or Linear
Notion lets Claude turn your spec into screens and tasks. Linear does the same for a developer team tracking issues.
Design: Figma or Canva
Both are MCP Apps, so Claude edits designs right in the chat. Figma is for app screens. Canva is for a logo or quick mockup.
Build and host: Floot
Floot builds the full app and publishes it to a live URL from the chat. It is the only pick that turns a description into something a customer can open.
Code: GitHub
GitHub lets Claude read your repository, issues, and pull requests. It is for developers.
Payments: Stripe
Stripe's official connector lets Claude create prices and payment links and look up customers.
Docs: Context7
Context7 feeds Claude current library docs instead of old training data. It is a custom connector (https://mcp.context7.com/mcp), so on Free it takes your one custom slot.
Checked Sept 25, 2026:
Notion, Linear. Stage: Plan. What Claude can do: Read pages, create issues.
Figma, Canva. Stage: Design. What Claude can do: Edit designs in the chat.
Floot. Stage: Build and host. What Claude can do: Build and publish the full app.
Vercel, Netlify. Stage: Host (developers). What Claude can do: Deploy sites, read logs.
Supabase. Stage: Database (developers). What Claude can do: Manage tables, run queries.
GitHub. Stage: Code. What Claude can do: Read repos and pull requests.
Stripe. Stage: Payments. What Claude can do: Create prices and payment links.
Context7. Stage: Docs. What Claude can do: Pull current library docs.
All work on Claude Free. The interactive MCP Apps view may need a paid plan.
Which ones do you need?
Here is the quick test. Ask whether the app exists anywhere yet.
If it does not, you need three: Notion to plan, Floot to build and host, and Stripe to get paid. That covers a booking app, a client portal, a paid tracker, or a small store.
If it does and a developer maintains it, use GitHub, Context7, and whatever host the code already runs on.
What each tool makes you do
On the developer path, hosting, database, and payments are three companies: Vercel or Netlify, Supabase, and Stripe. Each is a strong tool with its own account, dashboard, and bill.
The pattern is the same everywhere it goes wrong: the plan works on paper, then every new stage adds another account to open and another key to paste.
Floot is the connector that turns the rest of this list into an app. Notion holds the plan, Figma holds the design, Stripe holds the money, and none of them runs anything. You describe the app in Claude, and your assistant builds it onto Floot: pages, small server programs called endpoints ("create a project," "charge the card"), and a Postgres database, live on its own URL from the first build.
Because Floot also includes the database, logins with Google, Microsoft, and email, file storage, email sending, scheduled jobs, and live updates, the build-and-host stage is one connector, not three. You never sign up for anything else, and the thinking stays on your Claude plan, so there is no second AI bill.
FAQ
How do I add a connector to Claude?
Go to Customize, then Connectors, pick one, click Connect, and sign in. On Team and Enterprise, an Owner enables it first.
How do I add a custom connector by URL?
In Connectors, click "+", choose "Add custom connector," and paste the URL. Free accounts get one.
Are Claude connectors free?
Directory connectors cost nothing extra on any Claude plan, including Free. The connected app may still need its own paid account.
Do Claude connectors work in Claude Code?
Yes. It uses the same directory and can add servers from the terminal: claude mcp add --transport http stripe https://mcp.stripe.com/.
Does Floot work as a Claude connector?
Yes. With Floot connected, Claude builds a full-stack app and publishes it to a live URL from the chat.
Is a Verified connector safe to use?
Verified is a directory label, and it is no security audit. Read what access a connector asks for.
