VOLTS CAD
About the project
Inspired by my background as an electrician, I developed a switchboard CAD tool that provides a clean, NZ-compliant, blueprint-style representation of a low-voltage distribution board. This platform is designed for training, documentation, and alignment with real-world installations, reflecting both my technical experience and a tutor-level approach to explaining these concepts clearly. Our platform is a digital environment where users can design, simulate, and teach switchboards specifically tailored for New Zealand electricians, apprentices, and tutors. Although we are currently in the early stages of build and testing and haven't launched publicly yet, we've received positive initial feedback from electricians and trainees. They particularly appreciate the visual switchboard builder and the NZ-focused compliance features. As we prepare for a pilot rollout, we're looking forward to gathering formal user feedback and performance data. The most exhilarating moment during development was witnessing the rapid transformation of my idea into a tangible product. Transitioning from a concept based on real switchboard layouts to a fully functional digital builder has been an incredible journey, marking the shift from ideation to creating a practical tool.
